OBS: Svensk version av denna nyhet finns här.

Will you be travelling to Stockholm to see one or several of the U2 concerts? Or do you live in Stockholm and are getting ready to see U2 in your hometown? It doesn’t matter which: We have a suggestion on how to get in the right mood for the concerts and where you can continue the party after U2 have left the stage at Ericsson Globe Arena.

Irish pub The Liffey in Old Town Stockholm will offer a U2 theme during the concert week. u2.se have spoken with the manager Eoin O’Connor.

u2.se: How will your guests notice that U2 are in town?

Eoin O’Connor: The U2 Theme will continue over the whole weekend and we will be offering 10% discount on beer and food for ticket holders and those wearing U2 t-shirts on the concert days between opening and 19:00. We will have live music from 17:00 each concert day, U2 theme and only U2 on the stereo.

Our food menu will have a couple of U2 themed dishes and we will raffle off some U2 t-shirts also from the main stage. Last but not least, our band Jukebox Heroes will perform an entire 50 minute U2 set on Friday night and Saturday night from 22:30.

u2.se: You’re not only Irish, you’re also a big U2 fan. Could you please tell us more about that?

O’Connor: I’ve always loved U2, ever since I was a child. Apart from them always being in the press, I felt a special connection with the band and their songs and have watched them grow into the biggest band in the world over the last 20 years. I am very proud of them and what they have achieved. Their songs are timeless and they are one the best live acts in the world.

u2.se: Why did you move to Sweden?

O’Connor: I moved here with a band from Ireland. We seemed to be popular among the Scandinavian fans and decided to base the band here and work from Gothenburg. Later, I moved to Stockholm after the band split in 2005/6.

u2.se: What are your expectations for the concert week, both for The Liffey and personally?

O’Connor: The Liffey has a great reputation for live music so I would love to fill the place with U2 fans, really get everyone in the mood for the concert, seeing lots of people with a common love for the band enjoying themselves and singing along with our live act.

u2.se: Last question: If we let you summarize, what can a U2 fan expect from a visit at The Liffey during the period September 16-21?

O’Connor: Proper Irish hospitality, good food, great music and plenty of drink!

u2.se are looking forward to terrific days and evenings at The Liffey and we hope to meet many of you there!
